Pattison’s Academy aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with multiple, severe disabilities by providing comprehensive programs throughout the year.
Our Therapeutic Summer Camp expands our rehabilitative and educational model across four weeks of the summer.
As a camp counselor, you’ll be responsible for two campers and ensuring our camp programming is individualized to their abilities.
Counselors will be assigned to a group of no more than 10 campers under the supervision of a Lead Counselor.
Qualifications:
* Must have a high school diploma
Responsibilities:
* The Camp Counselors duties, though not exhaustive, comprise the following:
* Sensitivity and flexibility to the needs of a diverse group of campers
* Ability to tailor summer camp program to target the goals of each camper, including but not limited to: Participation in adaptive sports, music, arts/crafts; Participation in field trips out in the community; ensuring each child is socially, educationally, and physically challenged through creative initiatives and suggestions
* Must be able to lift at least 15 lbs
* Work closely and collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team
* Tend to care of student's personal hygiene needs, including oral feeding, tube feeding, and toileting/diapering
* Ensure compliance with all safety requirements
* Assist with ensuring a safe and clean environment for campers.
These duties will include wiping down/sanitizing equipment, furniture, and the entire camp environment
* Assist with school-wide improvement projects while not directly working with campers, including but not limited to; organizing common spaces, moving therapeutic equipment, laminating educational material, etc.
