Bus Assistant

Bus Assistant Job Title: Bus Assistant Hours: Part Time Hourly (Monday-Friday 6 am-9 am and 2:30 pm-5:30 pm) Reporting To: Director of Operations and Compliance Summary of Job: Seeking a compassionate individual that will travel with the bus drivers to assist in safety of students with disabilities during bus transit to and from school and the loading and unloading of students from the bus.
They will be responsible for being on time and completing all assigned bus runs.
Essential Job Functions: Complete training on the operation of the bus lift, securing student wheelchairs in the bus and securing students into their seats with 5point harnesses and seat belts.
Complete training on student support and supervision during transit Will operate the bus lift to get students on and off the bus.
Collaborate with the bus driver during the bus route to ensure a safe and efficient bus run.
Monitor student safety and needs during transit Will communicate relevant and important information about any occurrence on the bus trip to families and school staff Follow all Pattison’s Academy policies and procedures.
Flexibility to the pace and needs of the children and the program.
Ensures compliance to all safety requirements.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Required Minimum Education and Experience: Compassionate individual who is willing to learn and support our children.
Experience with children with disabilities is preferred but not required.
Compensation: Bus Assistants are paid at an hourly rate on a bi-weekly basis.
Regardless of the length of the morning or evening route, they will be compensated for at least 3 hours per run.
If the route exceeds 3 hour, they will be compensated accordingly (e.

) We also provide a retention bonus for Bus Assistants that stay on for a full semester.
