is now accepting applications for the position of Early Head Start Teacher.
General Description
Under the general supervision of the Head Start Director and direct supervision of the Education Manager, the teacher will plan coordinate, execute and supervise a full-day program of instructions for a group of 8 pre-school children enrolled in the Early Head Start Program.
Teaches assigned students coursed in the curriculum designed to improve their physical abilities, emotional and social development, and mental skills.
Supervises the activity of volunteers and teacher aides assigned to the classroom.
Plans and carries out room arrangements, curriculum development, subordinate work schedules, daily lesson plans, and daily enrichment activities for the development of each child.
Will be responsible for and participate in the care, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of the facilities used by the children.
Keeps written reports and records of health attendance, problems, and progress.
Encourages and holds parent-teacher conferences concerning the child’s progress.
Attends staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training sessions, parent meetings.
Visits the home of children to observe the home environment and to develop plans for child development.
Mist ride bus as a monitor to help supervise children
Must work toward obtaining CPR and First Aid Certificate.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Ability to plan and execute course curriculum according to the prescribed program of providing enriching experiences for children enrolled in the Head Start Program.
Ability to convey effectively to underprivileged children and their parents and to comprehend and decipher their needs.
Ability to express and deal with subject matters clearly; ability to supervise teacher assistant’s and volunteers assigned; ability to maintain accurate records
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must have a Bi-Annual TB Test.
Drug Testing will take place randomly, without notification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, with two years of successful classroom experience or related field.
