This role is a part of the APS-03 Program.
The U.
S.
Army’s pre-positioned stocks (APS) serve to provide materiel power projection around the globe.
These strategically positioned resources augment the Army's strategic airlift and military sealift requirements during contingency operations.
Our program ensures that the U.
S.
Army’s stocks are properly maintained and ready to The Gunsmith can design, fabricate, modify, repair and service foreign and domestic firearms, weapons and accessories.
Employee possesses required knowledge in the use of hand tools, machine tools, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties, has the knowledge and skill to design and construct prototype small arms from drawings or customer input.
This employee is capable of designing computer prototypes from customer input, has necessary knowledge of munitions and ballistics to accomplish assigned tasks.
All required knowledge is typically obtained through technical schools and/or on the job experience.
This incumbent plans and conducts training as required.
This position reports directly to the Armament maintenance shop supervisor General Responsibilities: The Gunsmith II services and repairs military weapons and weapon support systems in a secure storage and repair facility, using government provided tools, support equipment, and materials.

Performs varied duties including: Field level maintenance on US Military weapons and weapon support systems, targeting, range finding, and certain night vision devices.
Includes diagnostics, parts identification and requisition, and repair in accordance with technical specifications and specified repair times.
Prepare government assets for routine and unscheduled 100% inventory Maintain maintenance records and documentation in accordance with government regulations and local policies Prepare equipment for long term storage Properly use, store, accounting for, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste used and generated in the performance of duties Movement of materiel and assets with forklifts and dollies Upon notification from the government, deploys to support issuing or receipt of equipment Qualifications: Must be a U.
S.
Citizen Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
High School/GED plus five years directly related work experience in the maintenance and repair of the U.
S.
Army small arms inventories.
Completion of the Unit Armored course or equivalent.
Must obtain and maintain local base access, as well as secure area access Ability to work from technical manuals, work instructions and work orders.
Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
Favorable adjudication of an NACI background check.
Must be able to work in a non‐temperature controlled environment, heat and humidity.
Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 35 pounds to shoulder height.
