Pattison’s Academy has an opening for a Special Education teacher in a Multi-Categorical Classroom
Required Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters in Special Education; Highly Qualified.
Experience working with students with severe and multiple disabilities.
Licensing/Certification: SC State Board of Education State Certification in Special Education – Intellectual Disabilities, Severe Disabilities, or Multi-Categorical.
Position Responsibilities:
Create, develop, and implement lesson plans aligned with Pattison’s curriculum and standards with an emphasis on a functional academic curriculum and community based instruction.
Work seamlessly as a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating to ensure the holistic needs of the child are met and progress is exceeded.
Act as a dynamic, steady and empowering leader in your classroom.
Advise leadership on supports, resources and equipment recommended to execute Best-Practices techniques
Use available resources to plan, and implement a program of study that meets students’ academic and daily living needs, interests, and abilities using approved curricula.
Oversee data and outcomes measurement in accordance with school’s timeline to demonstrate the efficacy of our model and the progress of our children.
Adhere to the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Pattison’s Board of Directors.
Act as a team lead during the IEP development and implementation process, according to Pattison’s designated timeline.
Create a learning environment appropriate to the age, maturity, and interests of students.
Ensure safety requirements are followed.
Assist with independence and self-help skills.
Utilize assistive technology with students as appropriate.
Adapts to multiple, fluctuating time-lines and multiple support personnel.
Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students.
